Mutex Systems is a UK-headquartered software development company with engineering hubs in Pakistan. For more than a decade our teams have shipped custom software, mobile apps, web applications, SaaS platforms, ERP and CRM systems, marketplaces, and fintech products for clients across the UK, EU, GCC, and South Asia.
Senior engineers who write code on your project. Fortnightly demos with running software. Code, infrastructure, and IP owned entirely by you from day one — treated as a long-term partnership rather than a one-off contract.

Twelve Core Services
Software Development Across the Full Spectrum
We have grouped our work into twelve clearly defined services so you can quickly identify what fits your situation. Each has its own process, technology stack, compliance posture, and deliverable set.
Mobile App Development
iOS, Android & cross-platform consumer or enterprise apps
Apps that load fast, feel right on the device, and keep working as your user base grows from hundreds to millions.
Documentation and Artefacts Are Part of the Deliverable
At the close of each phase you receive a complete bundle that lets your team verify the work and continue it without us if you ever choose to. Code, IP, and credentials are in your name from day one.
Every project takes its own shape, but the spine of our delivery flow is consistent across engagements. We begin with a paid discovery phase that produces a written scope, architectural sketch, realistic timeline, and fixed-scope quotation.
01
Discovery
Paid, fixed-fee work producing a written scope, wireframes, architecture sketch, and quotation.
02
Build Sprints
Two-week cycles with a working demo at the end of each one. Real progress on real software every fortnight.
03
Hardening
Performance testing, security review, accessibility audit, and documentation finalisation before launch.
04
Run & Improve
Agreed support plan, monthly health reviews, and quarterly roadmap planning after go-live.
FAQs
Common Questions About Software Development
Straight answers about how we scope, price, deliver, and support custom software projects.
What does a software development company actually do?
A software development company designs, builds, deploys, and maintains custom software for a client business. That includes the user-facing application, the backend systems that hold the data and run the business logic, the integrations to other systems, the cloud infrastructure it runs on, the security controls, and the documentation that lets the client's own team take over later. A serious software company also handles the unglamorous work — testing, observability, compliance, performance tuning, accessibility — that decides whether the product survives its first year.
How much does custom software development cost?
Cost depends on scope, but realistic ranges help. A focused mobile or web MVP typically falls between fifteen and forty thousand pounds. A production-grade SaaS platform or marketplace usually runs between sixty thousand and two hundred thousand pounds. A multi-region enterprise system can exceed that. We always give a written fixed-scope quote after a paid discovery phase rather than a guess on the first call, and we work in phases so the budget is never a leap of faith.
How long does it take to build software?
A focused MVP — mobile or web — usually ships in ten to sixteen weeks. A full production platform with integrations, payments, and admin tooling generally runs four to seven months. Larger enterprise programmes move in phases over twelve to twenty-four months. The honest answer is always given after discovery rather than on the first call, because guessing without seeing the actual scope helps no one.
Who owns the code and intellectual property?
You do, completely. The repository, the cloud accounts, the documentation, and the credentials are all in your name from day one. There is no proprietary framework holding you to us. If you ever want to move to another vendor or bring the work in-house, we will help with the transition rather than make it painful.
Can you work with our in-house engineering team?
Yes. Many of our engagements run as embedded teams alongside an internal CTO and one or two in-house engineers. We adapt to your existing tooling, code review standards, and release process. Other engagements are full delivery — we ship the product end to end and hand it over for in-house maintenance. Both models work; we will recommend based on your situation.
How do you handle security and compliance?
Security and compliance are designed into the system from the first sprint rather than added at audit time. We work to OWASP ASVS, OWASP MASVS, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 baselines as standard, with sector-specific frameworks layered on where the project demands them — PCI DSS, HIPAA, PSD2, FAPI 2.0, and local regulators like FCA, SBP, SECP, SAMA, and CBUAE. Independent penetration testing is built into the timeline rather than scrambled for at the end.
Can you take over a project from another vendor?
Yes — about a third of our long-term clients arrived this way. We start with a code and operations audit, deliver a written stabilisation plan, and only then move into new feature work. Customers stay live throughout, and we work patiently with the outgoing vendor where possible to make the handover clean.
Where is Mutex Systems based?
Mutex Systems is headquartered in the United Kingdom with engineering hubs in Pakistan. Our delivery model gives clients UK-based engagement leadership combined with a deep engineering bench. Most of our clients are in the UK, EU, and the GCC, with a growing share in North America.
